SEQ Healthy Waterways Strategy 2007 – 2012

An integrated set of Action Plans, the SEQ Healthy Waterways Strategy 2007 – 2012 is designed to maintain and improve the health of the waterways and catchments of South East Queensland. The Strategy aims to improve the health of our waterways by:

  • achieving significant reductions in both urban and non-urban diffuse source pollution—diffuse source pollution comes from a variety of sources such as sediment from catchments
  • achieving significant decreases in point source pollution—point source pollution originates from a single point such as waste water treatment plants
  • protecting and conserving high ecological value waterways
  • improving catchment health
  • combating coastal algal blooms
  • increasing the commitment and capacity of the general community
  • improving management via better modelling and evaluation
  • refining the Ecosystem Health Monitoring Program
