Land clearing campaign re-emerges in NSW
Less than a decade ago NSW had one of the worst records for land clearing in the world. Land clearing is recognised as the greatest threat to biodiversity in NSW as well as being a leading cause of salinity. In 2003 and 2005 laws were introduced to end broadscale land clearing in NSW, and although slow to be enforced the laws did result in significant reductions in clearing. However the NSW Government is reviewing the laws, which has seen the Total Environment Centre launch a new campaign and The Wilderness Society make a call to action.
