Using buildings to green the city
The article Is there room for nature in our cities? in The Conversation discusses the environmental and health benefits of greening the city, and compares Australian cities to leading international examples. The article advises that buildings have long been in the front line of fighting climate change through “green building” rating systems, and that it’s time they were also enlisted to reforge our linkages with the natural landscape. Two innovative examples of this are the recently opened Parkroyal on Pickering Hotel in Singapore and the under construction Bosco Verticale in Milan.
