Queensland Government flood mitigation initiatives

The Queensland Government is leading several flood mitigation initiatives to implement recommendations of the Queensland Floods Commission of Inquiry, and community input is being sought. The initiatives are the Wivenhoe and Somerset Dams Optimisation Study, North Pine Dam Optimisation Study and Flood mitigation infrastructure investigation. The flood mitigation infrastructure investigation includes consideration of options for new dam sites and increasing the size of Wivenhoe Dam. Sites for eight potential new dams have been identified.
