CORENA – Citizens Own Renewable Energy Network Australia Inc.
CORENA is a not-for-profit funding mechanism set up by and for citizens who want to ‘do something’ about climate change. It enables the public to chip in to collectively fund practical renewable energy projects. CORENA gives interest-free loans to community organisations to pay for renewable energy projects, with the loans being repaid just out of savings on power bills. All repayments are channelled straight into subsequent projects. CORENA is currently asking for contributions towards its second project, a 10kW solar installation and energy efficiency measures at the Gawler Community House in SA.
