Report from Senate Inquiry into Environmental Offsets
On 5 March 2014, the Senate referred the matter of the history, appropriateness and effectiveness of the use of environmental offsets in federal environmental approvals in Australia to the Senate Environment and Communications References Committee for inquiry and report. The inquiry report is now available, and makes 21 recommendations including that the Australian Government not accredit state and territory approval processes under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.
