Urban protected areas are protected natural areas situated in or at the edge of larger population centres. The new IUCN book Urban Protected Areas: Profiles and Best Practice Guidelines is designed as a guide to help managers of urban protected areas and those responsible for protected area systems, but has been written in non-technical language with a broader readership in mind.
