Community of Practice for Environmental Water Managers

The Community of Practice for Environmental Water Managers has been established to support those active in the field of environmental water management, whether their involvement is through practice, management, policy development or research.

Environmental water managers are held accountable for the management of environmental water. In 2008, the National Water Commission found that they had not been fully recognised or resourced, and too often lacked clear identity, authority and suffcient fnancial and technical capacity to carry out their responsibilities effectively.

The Community of Practice for Environmental Water Managers was set up to facilitate exchange of knowledge, problem solving and a sense of community that will strengthen the profession and practice of environmental water managers to achieve better environmental outcomes. The National Water Commission has engaged the Australian Water Association to deliver this project.
